Another Funny Moment With Zoe

My husband grewDSC_0682 up in a home wherein the first language used is English. Having kids of his own, he adheres to that practice. Our kids are taught to communicate using the English language. All of my kids’ cousins in the paternal side speak English, so we foresee no problems. However, my relatives are not comfortable using English language as a form of communication… My mother who is now living with me speaks vernacular. So some Cebuano terms were caught by Zoe… and he tried using the term one time. Take note, Zoe who is three years old has no idea what is Cebuano or what is English…
Zoe: (speaking Cebuano; I forgot the word)
Me: Zoe, Speak English
Zoe: I speak English (with a straight face)

One Potty Evening

Zoe’s already potty-trained. One night while he was trying to poop, he spoke to his Dada. Here’s their dialogue.
Zoe: Dada, I want to eat cookies.001659_Potty-Training
Dada: What!? You’re defecating and yet all you have in your head is a cookie.
Zoe: (surprised) Huh? I won’t put it in my head, I’ll put it in my mouth (his finger pointing at his mouth)
Dada: (Laughed out loud)
Zoe: (REALLY angry, shouted) It’s not funny!!!
This time, John went near to Zoe and was saying sorry. Zoe was really upset.

Artsy Fartsy

My son’s skill and creativity are not bad. In fact for a 3 year old, he can draw concrete objects with more veridical details. But just to make this blog catchy, I decided to borrow the title. I believe, it makes sense.

To prove that what I’m saying is true, here are Zoe’s photos.

Exhibit A. He was drawing a laptop; that’s what he said.

Exhibit B. He’s now showing off his finished artwork. He said to me “Mama, look! This is my laptop, I’m playing a video, that’s my car.

Exhibit C. This was his truck or bus… I dunno… He’s really very creative.

Kids’ Church

Zoe begins to love Kids Church and looks forward to Sundays… He is motivated to sleep early on Saturday night, and wakes up early the following morning.

Here is Zoe one Sunday morning at Kids’ Church… he can already draw things with a more concrete details.

Zoe Is nOw 3

It has been awhile since I blog about my kids… I have been itching to but then I am simply tied with my responsibilities that I got no more time for myself to blog.

Now let me backtrack…. JULY 17…We celebrated Zoe’s birthday… We had it at Tierra Montana. My family and I slept in this hotel… the kids wanted to swim. The suite room was not really that big but it was cozy. It has a matrimonial bed and another twin bed plus two large couches.

We knew, the kids had so much fun even if there were just the three of them.

Precious Moments

Zoe is getting bigger everyday… and he is no longer a baby… and I can not baby him… He will always say “Im a little guy” every time I call him baby.

So I can never push the issue… he always mimic most of the things he sees… including this Photo0027 He likes to pretend and do what I do or his dada is doing… Every time his older sister sings, he pretends to sing duet with her… all the facial expressions…

Photo0022 Photo0024So what’s the story now? Nothing… just blogging some thoughts about my son Zoe, AGAIN.

Groceries

Three nights ago, my husband and I together with Zoe went to the drugstore to buy some meds. We also bought some items in the grocery section of Mercury Drugstore… Zoe was enjoying it because the grocery shop has a small pushcart. He loaded some stuff we wanted to buy and he unloaded them in the cashier counter. We had fun watching Zoe doing it.

Lemme Try

Zoe is 2 years and 8 months now, few more months and he will be a preschooler. Right now, I can see his growing independence. Most of the time he likes to do the changing of undergarments and shirts… his very common assertion is “Lemme Try. lemme try.” or “Me Only”

Whenever he takes a bath, he habitually places used clothes in the laundry basket. he likes to eat by himself too.

As much as it astounds me seeing Zoe does things… I also feel a certain pang… my mind travels to the future… Seeing all my three children all grown-up and now leading their own lives… I cant help but feel lonely… I snapped myself back to the present before I get carried away…and begin to worry of the future, which always doesn't make sense.

Lemme try to live one day at a time and enjoy motherhood while I still can.

Inevitable

I am a what you call “stay-at-home” mom… forgive me for coining words as such. And, today… I just can’t help admire my children, especially Zoe. I have not watched closely my two older children since I had been working while they were growing… but with Zoe… I am mostly around him 24/7… I can count with my fingers the occasion when I had to leave him in the care of my mother or my husband… that was when my oldest son got operated on with his congenital heart disease… I had to be in the hospital 8-12 hours taking care of Jason… then another occasion was last October 2009, I had to visit an old friend who came all the way from Germany… So I was away from home for three days.

Other than those occasions… I am always with Zoe… In fact, I had breastfed him for a year and six months too… the longest breastfeeding I did… the two older siblings lasted only for 5 months.

Anyway… back to Zoe… this week I heard him say… Never mind…one time he inquired…What happened Mama? Are you hurt? What are you cooking? I’m going to KCC {the mall here in our place}. He is inevitably growing… and learning a lot… and is beginning to reason out… insist his preference… but at night… he would always say “I’m a baby” to be able to get what he wanted--- that is to tuck his feet and hands underneath my body.

I wish I can freeze time and let him be this 2 years old boy. But everyday I can’t help but watch him grow.

Random Episodes with Zoe Part 2

Baby Lola Episode

Zoe calls himself baby Zoe or baby zo-zo… now my mother’s moniker is Bebie and it sounds like [baby]… so one time I told Zoe to give something for Lola [a Filipino word for grandma] Bebie… but he corrected me Bebie Lola… I said no, Lola Bebie…”Bebie Lola”… I corrected him once more… “No! Bebie Lola”… then he pointed himself… “Baby Zoe”… There you go!.

Zoe @ CFF Sunday School

Zoe simply likes to attend kid’s church. Last December 2009, we were able to attend service at our home church…and Zoe had a nice time with the kids at the Sunday school.
